Ben was born in London and brought up in Bath. After finishing his A-levels, Ben moved to North Wales and worked as an outdoor pursuits instructor, teaching climbing, mountaineering, paddle sports, and leadership and team-building courses. He then joined the British Army at 20 and started his Training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps and served with the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment. After 10 years, Ben wanted to pursue a career out of the military and left as a Captain. He had served with Regular and Reserve units in several different roles all over the world.
During Ben’s service, he encountered a number of challenges, and he sought out help through therapy. During his own therapeutic journey, Ben realised that this was the path that he wished to follow. He trained as a Trauma Risk Management Advisor and developed a passion for helping those who had been impacted by trauma. He then completed his Level 2 Certificate in Counselling whilst still serving.
After leaving the Army, Ben worked for a couple of Mental Health Charities, including Mind and Mental Health Matters, whilst also studying for his Level 7 Diploma in Integrative and Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at Peel Psychological Consultancy via the Ellesmere Centre for Psychotherapy Training.
When not in the therapy room or working, Ben still enjoys mountaineering, climbing and kayaking, or being told to finish a DIY project by his wife.
Hi, I’m Carrie.
I’m a midwife, teacher and trainee hypno-psychotherapist, and I’ve spent much of my career supporting women through some of life’s biggest transitions.
I began my journey in midwifery, where I learned what it truly means to hold space… not just for birth, but for vulnerability, uncertainty, and transformation. That experience shaped everything I do. I’ve always been drawn to the quiet strength women carry, and I’ve built my work around helping them reconnect with their own sense of self, safety, and inner resourcefulness.
I’m also the wife of a military veteran, and that role has given me unique insights into the emotional and mental challenges faced not only by veterans, but also by the women who support them. Supporting my husband through his transition from military to civilian life has deepened my understanding of the invisible burdens carried by partners, caregivers, and families within the military community.
Now, as part of the team at Veterans at Ease, I offer hypno-psychotherapy to veterans and their families, with a particular focus on supporting women who often quietly hold everything together while managing their own needs.
Whether carrying the weight of trauma, navigating anxiety or burnout, or simply needing space to be heard and seen, I work with people on their pathway to change. My approach is grounded, compassionate and trauma-informed, combining everything I’ve learned – from the birth room to the therapy room – to create a warm, calm and respectful space for healing.
As a hypnotherapist and UKCP trainee psychotherapist at Veterans at Ease, I employ a direct and pragmatic approach, shaped by my military background and an understanding of the challenges veterans face after their service. I prioritise clear communication and intentionally avoid euphemisms and clinical jargon. My dedication to working with veterans is rooted in my lived experience; I recognise the complex mindset, sense of pride, silence, and self-sabotaging behaviours that often arise.
My focus is to help veterans identify the underlying factors that hinder their progress, whether behavioural, emotional, or physical. This may involve therapeutic interventions or candid discussions with someone who understands their unique context. Although I draw from my training in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, I emphasise practical applications over strict adherence to methodologies. My aim is to help regulate the nervous system and transform patterns that may be counterproductive in ‘civvi street’.
I create a structured environment characterised by integrity and calm, allowing for meaningful engagement without pressuring clients to share personal experiences – you lead the direction of therapy, not me. Veterans often express that they do not feel the need to justify themselves in this space, which allows them to focus on their healing journey.
Luke brings a lifetime of service to his work. A veteran of the armed forces, he learned early the value of discipline, teamwork, and showing up for others — lessons that have shaped every chapter of his career since.
Luke is driven by a genuine passion for helping people from all walks of life. He believes everyone deserves compassion and support, regardless of where they’ve come from or what they’re facing.
Most recently, Luke has worked in the addiction sector, supporting individuals as they navigate the difficult and often complex realities of addiction. Drawing on his military background and his deep empathy for others, he approaches this work with patience, resilience, and an unwavering belief in people’s capacity to change.
Whether in uniform or in the community, Luke’s mission has remained the same: to serve others with integrity and heart.
Having served myself, I now work with many forms of difficulty, including anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and bereavement. As well as two decades in the military, I’ve also worked in all kinds of commercial settings and volunteered in NHS acute mental health settings, as well as in community charities.
What that’s taught me is this: we don’t need a label so much as we need to be met, seen and accepted just as we are. That’s the ethical heart of how I work — meeting you where you’re at, and keeping you safe while we spend time together.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe, but when you think about it, even considering therapy and reading this is a step towards something better, however far off that feels right now. I don’t take that lightly — therapy is, first, an act of optimism, and I want to honour that.
My approach is Integrative — that means I adapt to you, not the other way round. So, as well as no labels, no lectures either. I have a particular interest in existential therapy: understanding what your life and situation are really like for you, day to day, and working together to find new meanings and possibilities. Not just getting through, but building better.
The hope, always, is that life becomes more fulfilling — that struggle stops being something that happens to you, and becomes the start of a better path forward.
I am a trainee psychotherapist, training in Integrative Transactional Analysis. I come from a background in research and data analytics, and my MSc is in Mental Health Services Research. I decided to pursue a career in psychotherapy with Veterans At Ease after developing PTSD from a traumatic healthcare event. I have Autism and ADHD, if clients who need a neurodivergent therapist. I served with the Army Reserves from 2004-06.
